Offices resume after Eid vacation

The government offices, banks, share market and private offices resumed activities on Tuesday (Jul 12) after the vacation of the holy Eid-ul-Azha, one of the major religious festivals of the Muslim community.

On the first working day, officials and employees of different ministries and divisions were found exchanging Eid greetings with each other at the Bangladesh secretariat, local media reported.

This year, the government employees got four-day holiday at a stretch. Jul 8 and 9 were weekly holidays, Jul 10 and 11 were public holidays for Eid-ul-Azha which was celebrated on Sunday.

Thursday was the last working day.

The Eid holidaymakers started returning to capital Dhaka after enjoying the holy Eid-ul-Azha at their village homes with the dear and near ones.

Kamalapur railway station, Sadarghat launch terminal and different bus terminals in the city were seen crowded as people were returning from village homes after enjoying Eid holidays.
