Weeklong Covid booster campaign in the country to begin Jun 4

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) is all set to begin a weeklong countrywide special campaign for booster doses against Covid-19 from Jun 4.

A release issued by the health authorities said that people above 18 years of age who received their second dose at least four months ago will get the booster shot. The applicants will be able to get jabbed at their nearest vaccination centres and will not require any confirmation message, it added. However, they will have to bring a printed copy of their vaccine card.

The special drive will start at 9 a.m. every day and will continue till Jun 10.

Meanwhile, regular vaccination activities will proceed without any interruption.

Situation in Bangladesh 

The country reported one death from the deadly virus till Monday (May 30) morning after passing six deathless days. Also, 34 new Covid-19 cases were reported during a period of 24 hours. 

It was on 23 May when the country reported two Covid deaths.

The health authorities recorded a 0.63% positivity rate after testing 5,370 samples across the country.

So far, 29,131 people have died and 1,953,481 tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Bangladesh.

From the beginning of the pandemic, 97.39 percent Covid-19 patients recovered among the infected people while 1.49 percent died, the DGHS statistics showed.

Among the 29,131 fatalities, 12,801 occurred in Dhaka division, 5,863 in Chattogram, 2,142 in Rajshahi, 3,718 in Khulna, 982 in Barishal, 1,328 in Sylhet, 1,417 in Rangpur and 880 in Mymensingh divisions.
