The results of this year's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations were launched on Thursday (Dec 30) morning by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the capital.
After virtually joining the event from Gono Bhaban, the PM officially published the results. Education Minister Dipu Moni will hold a press conference to discuss the results soon.
A total of 93.58 percent candidates have passed this year's SSC and equivalent examinations. The pass rate of SSC is 94.08 percent, for madrasa it's 93.22 percent and for vocational 88.49 percent, local media reported.
This year, the exams took place between Nov 14 and 23 – nine months after the scheduled time due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Examinees sat for tests in only three optional subjects, apart from compulsory subjects like Bangla, English and Mathematics, with shortened syllabuses. The total marks for the exams were also lessened.
The results of the three optional subjects and the grade point average of the students' previous public examinations, including Junior School Certificate, were taken into consideration while preparing the final results.
A total of 5,494 educational institutions achieved 100 percent pass rate in this year's SSC and equivalent examinations.
