Banking hours re-fixed

Bangladesh Bank has re-fixed the banking hour as per the new guideline of the Cabinet Division to halt the sharp rise of Covid-19 in the country.

On Jul 15, 18 and 19, banking activities will run as per normal schedule from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and banks will remain open until 6 p.m., as per a central bank circular issued on Tuesday (Jul 13).

On Jul 16 and 17, commercial banks in industrial areas around garment factories will remain open to facilitate the payment of salaries and bonuses of workers on holy Eid-ul-Azha. As per the circular, the bank branches in garments industrial area like Dhaka Metropolitan, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka, Narayanganj and Chattogram areas should be kept open by ensuring adequate security and health rules. Banks remain open from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday while banking hour will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

From Jul 25 to Aug 5, the central bank has instructed all banks to operate on a limited scale during the strict lockdown. During the period, banking hours will be 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to facilitate transactions while banks will remain open until 3 p.m.
