In the aftermath of ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the ‘Shaheed Dibash’ (Language Martyrs Day) and the International Mother Language Day will be observed this year following health safety guidelines and other rules, set by the government. A recent inter-ministerial meeting took this decision, local media reported.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, maximum five persons of an organisation are allowed to pay homage together to the Language Movement heroes by placing wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar.
At individual level, two persons will be allowed to place wreaths at the Shaheed Minar together following health guidelines.
None will be allowed to enter the premises of Shaheed Minar without wearing face mask. Hand-washing points will be installed in all entrances of the Shaheed Minar.
Following health guidelines, the country’s of all educational institutions will chalk out their respective programmes to observe the day.
Special monitoring must be ensured so that private universities, English medium schools and madrasas will observe the Day in a befitting manner.
Like previous years, national dailies will publish special supplements marking the day. Bangladesh Betar, Bangladesh Television, private radio stations and television channels will air special programmes on the occasion.
Steps will be taken so that the contribution of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to the Language Movement is presented in the special supplements.
Bangladesh Flag Rules must be followed in hoisting the national flag son the day.
