SSC, HSC exams may be delayed in 2021

SSC, HSC exams may be delayed in 2021

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni has said that Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations would be delayed in 2021 as the coronavirus pandemic is still prevailing across the country.

“Brief syllabuses of three months have been prepared for the next year’s SSC and HSC candidates. We want to have them attend classes on the syllabuses. Therefore, the SSC and HSC exams would be delayed,” the minister told a virtual press briefing on Wednesday (Nov 25).

The exams will be held after completing the short syllabuses, Dipu Moni said, after reopening the educational institutions maintaining the health guidelines, classes will be held six days in a week to complete the syllabuses.

Every year, the SSC exams start on Feb 1 and the HSC exams on Apr 1. If these dates coincide with public holidays, the tests usually begin on the following day.

But this year, the two public examinations for 2020 were cancelled due to the global pandemic coronavirus as the government declared closure for all educational institutions on Mar 17. The closure has been extended till Dec 19 in several phases.
