At least five people died in the fire that broke out at United Hospital in Dhaka's Gulshan area this evening, a fire service official said.
"We brought the fire under control. We found five bodies -- four male and one female. All were patients of the hospital," said the official.
Firefighters brought the fire under control around 10:30 p.m. after it broke out at the hospital around 9:50 p.m., local media reported citing a duty officer at Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters.
It was learnt that, the fire broke out at the Corona Isolation Unit of the hospital on the ground floor.
The cause of the fire and the damage caused by the blaze could not be known immediately.
