Covid-19 treatment begins at CMCH

The treatment of corona-infected (Covid-19) patients started at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) today. City mayor A J M Nasir Uddin inaugurated the Covid-19 patients unit at CMCH in the presence of Divisional Commissioner, Divisional Health Director, Civil Surgeon of Chattogram and BMA leaders this morning, local media reported.

CMCH Assistant Director Dr Aftabul Islam told media that the treatment activities of corona patients started at the hospital from Thursday after creating 100 beds, separate block with monitoring and isolation unit.

He told that the Covid-19 patients have increased in Chattogram district alarmingly. Considering the corona situation in Chattogram, a Covid-19 treatment ward has been set up in CMCH from today after getting permission from the health directorate, he added.

Earlier, treatment of corona patients started at Chattogram General Hospital with 100 beds, and 30 beds at Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID) at city’s Fuzdarhat. Later, another 40 beds unit was built at field hospital in Salimpur under private initiative.
