GP stands by customers, physicians, business partners

Grameenphone on Friday (May 7) announced more initiatives and contributions to stand by customers, frontline health professionals, and its business partners during the coronavirus pandemic.

“Grameenphone's commitment to the Covid-19 response carries a total value of Tk 100 crore,” GP CEO Yasir Azman said at an online press briefing.

GP announced 100 million free minutes for 10 million customers, 30GB internet at Tk 1 for 25,000 doctors certified by DGHS, 48 paisha call rate for over 75 million customers, 100 percent data bonus on weekly data packs, and 100 million safety-net credit scheme to affected retailers, he added.

Grameenphone has been continuously assessing Covid-19 development and responding with different direct and indirect contributions, the company said.

As the whole economy, business, and emergency services running on connectivity - GP announces a 100 percent data bonus addressing those needs on all weekly data packs purchased through the MyGP app.

Besides, GP acknowledged contributions of its retailers and announced a safety-net credit scheme for the most affected ones worth Tk 10 crore to help them overcome these difficult times.

During the press briefing, GP CMO Mohammad Sajjad Hasib and Head of Communications Khairul Basher were also present.

Earlier, Grameenphone also contributed Tk 150 million to support 100,000 ultra-poor families through its joint effort with Brac, "Dakche Amar Desh," and also distributing 50,000 PPEs to DGHS selected hospitals.
