Bashundhara City, Jamuna Future Park to stay shut

Bashundhara City, Jamuna Future Park to stay shut

Though the government has greenlighted reopening of shopping malls, Bashundhara City Shopping Mall and Jamuna Future Park are not opening their doors from May 10 in an attempt to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

It was learnt that, the markets will remain closed until the coronavirus situation improves in the country.

Earlier, the national technical advisory committee on Covid-19 recommended reconsidering the government's decision of reopening shopping malls and other businesses, saying such a move could lead to further transmission of the deadly coronavirus.

It also recommended that all decisions should be taken on the basis of opinions from epidemiologists.

Earlier, the government allowed shops and malls to remain open till 4 p.m. from May 10, considering the holy Ramadan and the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.

A series of conditions have been imposed for businesses to operate ahead of the Eid, according to a govt circular.

Shopping malls will have to install adequate hand-washing stations and provide customers with hand sanitizers at the entrance.

All vehicles entering the premises will have to be disinfected and businesses must close by 4 p.m.
