Banks in Dhaka, Ctg commercial areas to remain open

Bangladesh Bank has instructed all banks to keep open all branches in the Motijheel and Dilkusha areas of the Dhaka city and Khatunganj and Agrabad areas of Chattogram from Apr 26.

Branches of all banks in the two areas will remain open from 10 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. during the government-extended general holidays from Apr 26 while the transaction will be made between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.,” said a central bank circular issued in Dhaka today.

The new timing will continue until a further notice, the circular added.

The central bank has taken the decision to remove the congestion by unloading imported goods at the Chattogram port.

Other instruction of earlier circular in this regard to remain unchanged, the circular added.

The government has extended the ongoing closure of all public and private offices up to May 5 aiming to contain the coronavirus pandemic in the country.
