All GPOs and main post offices across the country will remain open from 10am to 1pm for providing services to the people in limited scale during the general holidays from Apr 5 to Apr 9.

From April 5, all GPOs and main post offices across the country will remain open in limited scale from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. considering the public interest and urgency, according to a Posts and Telecommunications Division press release issued on Thursday (Apr 2).

During the period, counters will remain open of all post offices to provide e-commerce, mobile money order and parcel services.

Along with the services, post office savings bank transactions will also continue under the special arrangement.

Posts and Telecommunications Division has taken the decision under the instruction of Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar.

As per the decision, the upazila post offices will remain open for providing services in a limited scale. But, postmaster general or deputy postmaster general will take appropriate action in this regard, keeping close contact with the local administration.

In order to provide emergency postal transport services at district level, the postal department’s own mail car will run only in daylight under special arrangement.

In case of mail movement at the upazila level, the local postmaster general or deputy postmaster general will take necessary steps after consultation with the local administration.

Sub-post offices in metropolitan cities can be opened in limited scale. The government on Wednesday issued an order, extending the holiday for all public and private offices from Apr 5 to Apr 11, including weekly holiday.
