Hamid for utilising youths’ potentials in ICT development

President Md. Abdul Hamid on Thursday (Feb 6) asked all concerned to properly utilise the ICT knowledge and talents of the youths for the overall development of the country as he inaugurated the BASIS SoftExpo 2020 in Dhaka.

“We have to invent the world-standard software and solutions at the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution utilising the meritorious and latent youths of the country,” he told the function at the International Convention City Bashundhara, local media reported.

On the introduction of the government’s policy on the Information of Communication Technology ICT), the head of the state said if the ICT policy can be properly implemented, it would help generate more job opportunities for the youths.

“Besides, it will accelerate the businesses of the local software company and reduce the risk of their business as well,” he added.

Terming the Expo-2020, organised by Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Service (BASIS) as a very significant, he said it would help build a Digital Bangladesh within 2021.

Referring to the cyber crimes issue, President Hamid categorically put emphasis on inventing own technology to combat the cyber crimes, which is one of the bad impacts of the modern technology.

“It is very urgent to ensure the proper use of the Information and Communication Technology along with the invention of new neo software. Usage of ICT made life more easy and comfortable while its misuse creates tension,” he observed.

The President went on saying, “Different kinds of cyber crimes, including hacking and credit cards forgery, can disrupt the development sector . . . So, give priority to the invention of own technology.”

He urged all concerned to take necessary steps to develop invented technology as well as ensure its protection and stop misuse of modern technology.

“We have to take effective measures to continue the existing development trend of the ICT and prioritise the local ICT institutions as we have to solve our problems by own”, Hamid mentioned.

The President suggested the authorities concerned to formulate time-befitting policy and plans as well.

The incumbent government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working relentlessly to take the ICT sector to a new height.
