TCB starts open market onion sale in Chattogram

Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has started selling of imported onion in open market sale for the first time in the port city at Tk.45 per kg on Tuesday (Nov 19).

After beginning of onion scarcity in the country, TCB has taken these steps to sell onion in open market sale.

TCB started selling onion with six trucks consists of one ton in each truck at Kotwali crossing, Baizid, Pahartali, Halishahar, Bandar thana and Dampara police line, local media reported.

The lower and middle class dwellers of the city became very happy to get the onion in a comparatively very cheap price.

Local body representatives, law enforces helping the TCB vans to sell the onions in a disciplined way with proper queue to avoid rush of the buyers.

None was given more than 1 kg onion, a source said.
