Dhaka Lit Fest kicks off Thursday

The ninth edition of Dhaka Lit Fest, an international literature festival, begins on Thursday (Nov 7) on the Bangla Academy premises, aiming to create a bridge between native and international literary figures. Organisers announced the details of the three-day event at a press conference at the Jatiyo Press Club on Tuesday.

The three-day Dhaka Lit Fest, previously known as Hay Festival Dhaka, will be held at Bangla Academy in the capital from Nov 7 to 9. Dhaka Lit Fest, an internationally recognized literary festival, is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Organizers of the festival informed this at a press conference at the Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka on Tuesday (Nov 5). The directors of the festival Ahsan Akbar and Kazi Anis Ahmed attended the press conference, local media reported.

This year, award-winning author and Booker prize Monika Ali, literary icon Shankar, Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Jeffrey Gettleman, historian William Dalrymple, writer Shashi Tharoor, DSC Prize-winning writer HM Naqvi, poet Tishani Doshi, award-winning author Swapnamoy Chakraborty, Syed Manzoorul Islam, Imdadul Haq Milan, among others, are going to enlighten the fest.

Famous novelists, writers, journalists and noted personalities from 18 countries of the world will grace Bangla Academy premises.

Dhaka Lit Fest began its journey in 2011. It is being organized by Jatrik, with Bangla Academy as co-host, and the cultural affairs ministry as special partner.

This year, aamra is the Wifi Partner of Dhaka Lit Fest.
