The country’s biggest residential school “Jaflong Valley Boarding School” has been built on 150 acres of land in Sylhet with a view to ensure schooling in the lap of nature amidst lofty trees and abundance of greeneries.
Usually, the schooling in the country has been confined to four walls, where learning, at times, seems monotonous and frightful to students. But the Jaflong Valley Boarding School has brought learners close to nature as much as possible.
All arrangement has been made at the educational institute aiming to ensure that none but nature is greater coaches for a student.
The school is established on the several small hills near the Bangladesh boarder at Sreepur of Jaintapur upazila in Sylhet, beside the Sylhet-Tamabil highway but at the foot of high hills of Indian Meghalaya state.
The students of the institute are getting the opportunity to study, living close to the nature. The modern academic, administrative buildings and hostels of the school built on the hills without destroying the natural structure.
Natural beauty of the school increased for its beautiful tea garden in the gaps between the small hills (Tila) insides the campus. Such type of nature is nowhere to be seen in the country.
School insiders said the mission of the school is producing lifelong learners, responsible global citizens, to be creative and analytical thinkers and problem solvers. To sow the seed of green thinking, respecting nature and stepping into the future with confidence.
The country’s 14 businessmen and educationists founded the biggest residential school. Lawmaker Hafiz Ahmed Mojumder from Sylhet-5 constituency is the chairman of the school managing committee. The school lunched its full-sowing operation from 2018 academic year.
The teaching activities are currently operational from class VII to XII through English medium under national curriculum at the school.
The school has currently some 120 students and 21 instructors including three Indian teachers, through it has capacity of a total of 1000 residential facilities.
There is a good arrangement of standard food, medical treatment, evening coaching, recreation and sports at the private institution despite it is located at a remote and hilly area.
The school has arranged quality teaching staffers. To ensure quality education for the students, it has also arranged regular trainings for its instructors.
The school was mainly established eyeing to facilitate education for the students from middle-class families of the country. Usually, a student has to pay Tk 20,000 in a month and a session fee of TK 60,000 yearly.
Indian renowned teacher Brij kishore Bharadwaj is principal of the school. He is an alumnus of Modern School New Delhi and a Post Graduate in History (Delhi University) and Post Graduate in Education (Himachal Pradesh University).
Principal Bharadwaj has 35-year experience of teaching. Talking to a newspaper, Brij Kishore Bharadwaj said “The school established with a view to give quality education to the students and make future leadership for the country.”
Mentioning that around 3,000 students are going to the residential schools in abroad, he said “The international standard school was established as the country’s students can able to get world-class education living in own country.”
He also said there is skilled teaching staff and teachers’ student ration is 1:10, the environment of the school is as like the home, arrangement of all types of coaching at the campus and the students are also getting scope to practices English language.
