Autumn welcomed through ‘Sharat Utsab’

The advent of Autumn-1426 was celebrated by presenting songs and dances at Bokultola of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University on Friday (Sep 6). Satyen Sen Shilpi Gosthi organised the day-long programme titled ‘Sharat Utsab’ which started with an Esraj playing by Ashit Biswas.

State Minister for cultural affairs K M Khalid was present at the event as the chief guest while Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor Mohammad Akhtaruzzaman and president of Shammilito Sangskritik Jote Ghulam Quddus were present as the special guests.

Besides, Dean of DU fine arts faculty Professor Nisar Hossain, Professor Nigar Chowdhury, Manjar Chowdhury and other personalities were also present at the event. President of Satyen Sen Shilpi Gosthi Dr Hayat Mahmud presided over the programme, local media reported.

Artistes of cultural troupes Shur Bihar, Satyen Sen Shilpi Gosthi, Rishij Shilpa Goshti, Pancha Bhaskar, Gitanjali and Bonhi Shikha entertained the audience performing the chorus songs Noyon hhulano ele, Dekho dekho shukhtara ankhi mele chay, Eki oporup rupe ma tomay, Shorot aaj kon atithi, Amra bedheshi kashero guccho and Roshe ronge rai rongini.

Artistes of Spandan, Bangladesh Academy of Fine Arts, Nrityojon and Shawpno Bikash Kala Kendra respectively presented group dance recitals synchronised with the songs Shishire Shishire Sharodo Akashe, Sharat Tomar Aruno Alor Anjali, Shiuli Phul Shiuli Phul and Aaj Shorote Alor Bashi Bajlo.

In solos, Salma Akbar sang Tomra ja bolo tai bolo, Bishawjit Roy sang Agomoni gaan shona jay, Priyanka Gope rendered Shiuli phuler mala dole, Anima Roy sang Ebar Obogunthono Kholo, Abida Rahman Shetu rendered Sharod Prate Jhiler Jole.

Besides, Mamun Zahid Khan, Ashikur Rahman, Mahmuda Moumita and Ratna Sarker also performed songs.

Ahkam Ullah, Rafikul Islam, Nayla Tarannum Chowdhury Kakoli and Jahirul Alam recited popular poems on nature penned by leading poets.

In the afternoon, artistes of Kendriyo Khelaghar Ashor, Bulbul Lalitakala Academy, Udayan and others entertained the audience performing songs and dances.

Artistes of Benuka Lalitakala Academy, Bulbul Lalitakala Academy, Sketch, Bhorer Pakhi Nrityokala Kendro, Angikam and others presented group dance recitals.

The artistes were accompanied by Dalim Barua on keyboard, Tulshi Saha and Gautam Majumder on tabla, Badsha on violin and Dipan on guitar.

Besides cultural segment, the event featured drawing competition for school going students and recitation.
