"Product quality and environmental issues utmost priority"

PRAN-RFL Group gives highest importance to environment related issues apart from manufacturing quality products, creating huge employment and contributing to socio-economic development in terms of setting up its factories and operations. Kamruzzaman Kamal, director (marketing) at PRAN-RFL Group said this on Thursday at a view exchange meeting marking the five years of Habiganj Industrial Park (HIP) with Habiganj journalists held at the conference room of the park.

He also said that PRAN-RFL Group gives environment related issues utmost priority apart from manufacturing high quality products. There are four Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP). The ETPs have capacity to treat 66 lakh liters of liquid waste while the HIP discharges on an average 45 lakh liters of liquid waste. The liquid waste is treated through the ETPs and organic fertilizer is being made through solid waste.

Kamruzzaman Kamal also said the park has received all necessary clearance from the Department of Environment. Moreover, officials of government agencies, including Department of Environment, regular monitor environment related issues through regular factory visit.

Urging all to be more aware regarding environment, he said that it is possible to save the Sutang River through stopping the flow of dirty water from upstream of the canal.

HM Manjurul Haque, General Manager of HIP said that the products, manufactured in HIP, is being exported to 141 countries. Some 20,000 jobs have been created in the park in the five years. Eighty percent of total staff are local.

He also said, “PRAN-RFL Group is working not only to create employment here but also working to extend scope of education. For this reason, the group has established a school in the area. Now 600 students are studying here. Moreover, we give scholarships to meritorious students of some schools of the area. Various activities, including construction of roads, are going on for smooth movement of the local people which will be continued in the future. Habiganj Industrial Park has become a matter of pride to the people of the area only in five years.”

Fazle Rabbi, General Manager (RFL-administration), Ehsanul Habib, Senior Manager (PRAN-administration) at HIP and Zeaul Haque, Assistant General Manager (Public Relations) at PRAN-RFL Group, among others, were present on the occasion.

After the view exchange meeting, the journalists visited different parts of HIP including ETP.

PRAN-RFL Group has set up the park in 2014 on 217 acres of land. Candy, liquid glucose, biscuit, beverage, confectionery, electric cable, fan, melamine, bicycle, toiletries and other products are being manufactured in the park.
