Frylinck gives Chittagong thrilling win

Robbie Frylinck blazed 10-ball off 25-run steered Chittagong Vikings to earn an exciting three-wicket victory over Dhaka Dynamites in the 24th match of Bangladesh Premier League T20 held on Monday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur. Frylinck came in and coolly smoked three sixes with 16 required off the final over to secure his side victory with one ball to spare after Dhaka Dynamites set a winning target of 140 runs. Frylinck smashed three over boundaries during his brief hurricane unbeaten knocks.

Chittagong Vikings beat Dhaka Dynamites by 3 wickets in their seventh match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Monday (Jan 21).

Dhaka posted a moderate total of 139 in 20 overs after opted to bat first. The former champions of BPL got a big blow at the start of the innings when they lost opener Rony Talukder without adding nothing to the board.

The most successful bowler of Chittagong in BPL so far, Robbie Frylinck, took the scalp of Rony for duck before bagging the wicket of Sunil Narine (18 off 9) as well.

Dhaka lost both of their openers in 27 runs. In the third wicket stand, they added 29 runs with the help of Heino Kuhn and Shakib Al Hasan. Heino, the South African recruit of Dhaka, played his first match and scored 18 off 21 balls. He was dismissed by Abu Jayed.

Darwish Rasooli, the Afghan, came to the crease after Kuhn’s dismissal at 56 but failed to grab the chance as he fell for duck while playing a delivery from Abu Jayed. He skied the ball and Cameron Delport did not miss to catch it.

Shakib was the only man for Dhaka to score more than 30 runs. The captain of the Dynamites ended his innings posting 34 to the board off 34 balls. Nurul Hasan Shohan was showing a positive intend to bat before being dismissed by Delport.

Shohan scored 27 off 18 deliveries with five fours which was his best batting performance in the ongoing BPL so far. And lately, Shuvagata Hom struck 29 off 25 balls.

Cameron Delport took three wickets for 25 runs while Frylinck and Abu Jayed bagged two wickets each to restrict the Dynamites to 139/9 in 20 overs.

Chittagong started their chase badly as they lost Mohammad Shahzad for duck and drastically lost three more wickets leaving Vikings in a deep trouble. Cameron Delport made a quick fire 12-ball off 30 runs hitting four boundaries and two over boundaries while Yasir Ali added 15-run off 17 balls before both the batsmen fell to Shakib Al Hasan.

Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim and Mosaddek Hossain then took the responsibility to stop the rot as the duo shared useful 32 runs for the fifth wicket stand.

Mushfiqur contributed 22-run off 23 balls hitting two boundaries before he was removed by Rubel Hossain’s delivery. Mosaddek Hossain contributed 33-run off 39 balls hitting three boundaries to take Chittagong closer to the victory.

Shakib was the most successful bowler as he claimed four Chittagong’s wickets conceding 16 runs.

Robbie Frylinck of Chittagong was named the player of the match for his match-winning knock.
