DSCC to double insecticide to prevent Aedes

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) authority has decided to increase the volume of applying insecticide to 60 litre from 30 litre from Jun 14 to prevent the spread of Aedes mosquito. The decision was taken at a meeting held at WASA building in Dhaka on Wednesday (Jun 11) with DSCC administrator Md. Shahjahan Mia in the chair, local media reported.

The meeting came up with the decision that every day 60 liters of insecticide to be sprayed by fogger machines in DSCC areas to prevent the spread of Dengue carrying Aedes mosquito immediately.   

The meeting also decided to form local dengue monitoring teams to ensure proper management and taking initiatives to fill the manpower shortage.

The monitoring teams are subjected to ensure the regular presence of workers in the morning and afternoon, verify the application of pesticides in the right proportion, operate mobile courts, and ensure cleanliness of the inside of houses, courtyards and roofs, including stagnant water.

Regional executive officer has been made the convener and assistant health officer has been made the member secretary respectively 0of the team.

DSCC Assistant Health Officer Dr. Faria Faiz was nominated as the focal point officer on dengue and corona.

As per the decision of the meeting, a seminar on dengue control will be held at Nagar Bhaban by the end of this month with the participation of entomologists. Updated information on daily dengue patients will also be published on the DSCC website to increase public awareness to prevent dengue and corona.

DSCC Chief Executive Officer Dr. Md. Zillur Rahman, Secretary Muhammad Shafiqul Islam, Chief Waste Management Officer Air Commodore Md. Mahabubur Rahman Talukder, Chief Health Officer Dr. Nishat Parveen and other respective officials were present in the meeting, among others.
