President Mohammed Shahabuddin on Tuesday (Feb 6) thanked the Election Commission for conducting the 12th Jatiyo Sangsad elections in a fair and peaceful manner. The President made the remark as Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal called on him at Bangabhaban, local media reported.
During the meeting, the CEC apprised of the President overall activities of the EC, especially various aspects of the 12th Jatiyo Sangsad polls.
The head of the state said due to overall cooperation of the Election Commission and the executive department, the polls were held successfully.
The EC will be able to conduct various elections, including local government ones, in the days to come in a free, fair and impartial manner, he hoped.
The CEC expressed gratitude to the President for overall cooperation in conducting fair polls.
Secretaries concerned to the President's Office were present.
