The holy Ashura will be observed in the country on Jul 29 as the Muharram moon was not sighted in the sky on Wednesday (Jul 18). The month of Muharram will start on Thursday (Jul 20) while the 30th day of Zil Hajj month will be Wednesday, said a press release. Therefore, the holy Ashura will be celebrated on Jul 29 (Saturday).
The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee at Islamic Foundation conference room in Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on Tuesday (Jul 18) evening.
State Minister for Religious Affairs Md Faridul Haque Khan chaired the meeting, local media reported.
