Awami League candidates win Chapainawabganj by-polls

Bangladesh Awami League nominated candidates won the by-elections in both the Chapainawabganj-2 (Nachole-Gomostapur-Bholahat) and Chapainawabganj-3 (Sadar) constituencies, local media reported.

In Chapainawabganj-2, Awami League candidate Md. Ziaur Rahman with 'Boat' symbol has been declared unofficially elected as a law maker. He got 94,928 votes while his nearest independent candidate Mohammad Ali Sarkar with 'Apple' symbol got 25,399 votes.

Returning Officer and also the Regional Election Officer of Rajshahi Division Md. Delwar Hossain declared the result.

In Chapainawabganj-3, Awami League candidate Md. Abdul Wadud with 'Boat' symbol has been declared unofficially elected. He got 59,638 votes while his nearest independent candidate Md. Samiul Hoque with 'Apple' symbol got 55,980 votes.

Returning Officer and also the Deputy Commissioner of Chapainawabganj AKM Galiv Khan announced the result.
