Barca win at Cadiz 4-0

Four second-half goals steered FC Barcelona to a routine 4-0 victory at Cadiz on Saturday (Sep 10) as they moved top of LaLiga. Frenkie de Jong and Robert Lewandowski put the Catalans in front before a lengthy stop in play due to an illness in the crowd saw the players go off the field before returning to play out the final 10 minutes.

FC Barcelona's LaLiga game at Cadiz was halted for about 50 minutes because a fan had a medical emergency. The visitors were leading 2-0 with fewer than 10 minutes remaining when the incident happened.

Cadiz goalkeeper Jeremias Ledesma ran across the pitch with a medical kit and threw it into the stands before the players were taken off.

The fan was taken to hospital by ambulance and Barca boss Xavi said: "We all agreed to stop [the game]."

He added: "This sort of thing goes beyond football, we're talking about a human life here.

"Fortunately they managed to save him."

There were two further goals when play resumed as Barca moved top of the table thanks to a fourth successive league win.

Netherlands midfielder Frenkie de Jong swept in the opener for Barca while Poland striker Robert Lewandowski slid in the visitors' second shortly after his introduction as a substitute.

He has now scored nine goals in six appearances since his summer move from Bayern Munich.

Fellow substitute Ansu Fati added a third while France forward Ousmane Dembele rounded off the scoring late on.

Xavi's side sit a point above champions Real Madrid, who play Mallorca on Sunday (Sep 11).

Barcelona have scored 15 times and conceded just once since their opening-day stalemate against Rayo Vallecano.
