Rabindra, Nazrul and Shakespeare Carnival held at BU

A literary event titled ‘Rabindra, Nazrul and Shakespeare Carnival 2022’ was held in the Bangladesh University auditorium on Saturday (Jul 30). The event was arranged by the Department of English of the university.

Prof. Dr. Mesbah Kamal, Vice-Chancellor (Acting) of Bangladesh University, was present as the chief guest while Kamrul Hasan, Treasurer, Brigadier General Md. Mahbubul Haque (Retd.), Registrar, and Amirul Alam Khan, Controller of Examination of the university, were the special guests.

Heads and faculty members of all the departments and a large number of students were also present. The program was chaired by the Head, department of English.

Vice-Chancellor along with the other speakers provided valuable information about Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam and William Shakespeare in their speeches. They spoke about the contribution of the three legends. Their writings are the ultimate source of spirituality and secular spirit of any nation. They would reside in our hearts forever, they added.

The speakers also pointed out how their timeless creations fascinate us till date and emphasized on finding out the connection between life and literature and how literature inspires us to put humanity above all.

The formal session was followed by a colorful cultural program where the faculty members and students took part in different cultural events relating to the literary creations of these three timeless authors.
