Aminul eyes comeback in SAAF Football

National keeper Aminul Haque talks about his comeback plans from the ill-fated injury-break.

Q. You went through such an anxiety which never happened before in your career?

Aminul: I was really nervous about my career. It became tough for me to move on. My career was heading towards an end in frustration. My situation was the same like anybody else

struggling with injury. But I have overcome it finally.

Q. Tell us in detail, how you are doing right now.

Aminul: Much better than before. Now I am again dreaming of standing under the the goal post. I am feeling very fit now a days. My mind is absolutely set; and my strength is back which I lost for the last 6-7 months.

Q. You got hurt in your right leg's cuff muscles injured at the beginning of the B League. Do you feeling anyting different now?

Aminul: B League had not even started at that point. Suddenly I felt the pain in my leg while I was in practice session. At first I did think of it to take such a serious turn. But gradually the pain began to increase. Then I went to Dr Sami, a spinal surgeon of Mumbai. An injured player would trust everything his physician says and I took medication accordingly. But nothing worked for me and I had nothing left but to become disappointed.

Q. What happened next?

Aminul: Being upset for failing to recove, I suddenly went to consult Dr Dalvi in Mumbai last June. He attentively listened to my case history and then I underwent a surgery in the waist which was successful. He was the same surgeon who operated me in 2002.

Q. George Kotan contributed a lot to your career.

Aminul: In fact I used to play for the national team before Kotan joined the team. He liked me from the very beginning. And that is how we built up a friendship which became a significant part of my career. From him I have got huge support which is very important for a player.

Q. What has Dr Dalvi prescribed you to follow?

Aminul: He is a distinct as a physician. He treated me twice and was successful in operating me both the times. Though there was not much improvement in the first two days after the surgery, I felt better later. He has already told me to restart practice sessions. I am also feeling that I can join practice sessions. That is why I decided to start practicing from 15th of July. Before that I began swimming and jogging; these will be very effective prior to my full-fledged practice.

Q. How long will it take for you to fell hundred percent feet?

Aminul: I myself do not prefer to join the on-field action without being totally fit. And it will take time for me to gain that fitness. As soon as I start field practice, I can asses myself. It is already late so I won’t rush in this matter. Because I don't want to let my career fall in jeopardy again. During this period, not only I was in trouble but my team Muktijoddha also faced difficulty.

Q. What is your comeback plan?

Aminul: I do not have any specific target. Having recovered from injury I am dreaming of many things. I am eager to play in the SAAF Football. With everybody’s support and God's blessings I hope to return.
