Barisal gives fitting reply

Riding on unbeaten 186 runs by Raquibul Hasan, Barisal Division amassed 481 runs for 6 wickets in 146 overs to take a 73-run first innings lead over Sylhet Division on the 3rd day of the four-day Ispahani Mirzapore Tea 8th National Cricket League at the Narayanganj Osmani Stadium Tuesday.

Replying to Sylhet Division’s 1st innings total 408, Barisal Division resumed their first innings with overnight 184 for 4 and added another 297 runs for the loss of two wickets on the third day Tuesday.

Two down batsman Raquibul Hasan, who resumed batting with 47 runs, hammered not out 186 in 350 minutes playing 382 balls that featured 17 boundaries while another night watch batsman Mohammad Shahin (21) scored 65 runs off 195 balls with eight fours.

Number eight Ariful Haque remained unbeaten on 61 off 94 balls with eight fours and a six when bails were drawn for the day.

Rashedur Rahman and Nabil Samad, who took one wicket each on Monday, grabbed two wickets each today conceding 50 and 112 runs respectively.

Sylhet Division 1st innings: 408 for all (125.5 overs), Alok Kapali 141, Saif Mahmud 90, Hasibul Hossain 61, Imtiaz Hossain 29, Golam Mabud 22, Golam Mowla 22, Salahuddin 2/64, Ariful 2/65, Monir 2/76.

Barisal Division 1st innings: 481 for 6 (146 overs, overnight 184 for 4 in 52 overs), Raquibul Hasan not out 186, Hannan Sarkar 95, Mohammad Shahin 65, Ariful Haque not out 61, extras 45, Alok Kapali 2/113, Rashedur Rahman 2/50 and Nabil Samad 2/112.
