Two unbeaten
centuries from top order Ahmed Shezad and Khalid
Latif enabled Pakistan Academy team to thrash GP-BCB
Academy team by eight wickets in the last return
league match of the GrameePhone Academy Cup at the
Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Ruhul Amin Stadium in
Chittagong Monday.
Chasing a target of 244 set by the hosts, the
visiting side sailed to victory as they scored 246
in 43.5 overs at the loss of just two wickets..
Number four Khalid
Latif remained unbeaten on 105 off 115 balls that
featured 10 fours and four sixes while one down
Ahmed Shezad made run-a-ball not out 100,
including 13 boundaries and two sixes, before he
retired hurt.
Pacer Mahbubul Alam bagged both the wickets for
the GP-BCB Academy team, giving away 38 runs.
Earlier, sent in to bat first, the hosts put up
243 for 6 in the stipulated 50 overs with opener
Shamsur Rahman contributing team highest 79 off
124 balls fashioned with eight fours and two
sixes.
Skipper Mehrab Hossain Jr. not out 36, middle
order Nasir Hossain 27 and Mushfiqur Rahim 25 also
came up with some mediocre scores.
Anwar Ali scalped three wickets for 56 runs while
Aamir took two wickets for 48 runs.
Both the teams will play in the final on Wednesday
at the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
