Pak Academy crushes GP-BCB team by 8 wickets
 

Visiting Pakistan Academy team crushed hosts GP-BCB Academy team by eight wickets on the 3rd day of the first four-day match of Grameenphone Academy Cup at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium (SCS) in Bogra Monday.

Chasing an easy target of 128 on the 3rd day, opener Khurram Manzoor contributed unbeaten 65 runs off 105 balls with nine fours and two sixes as the Pakistan Academy team made 133 for 2 in 32.5 overs.

Another opener Ahmad Shezad scored 27 runs. Skipper Mehrab Hossain Jr. and Raihanuddin

Arafat took one wicket apiece for the GP-BCB Academy team.
 

Earlier, the hosts resumed the day with overnight 2nd innings score of 144 for 5 and were all out for 176 in 45 overs as Wahab Riaz captured five wickets for 35 runs and Anwar Ali took three for 49. 

Night watch Shamsur Rahman could add another 13 runs to his overnight score before being out for 35 off facing 77 balls that featured six boundaries while another overnight batsman Nasir made 5.

Opener Farhad Hossain 40, wicket keeper Mushfiqur Rahim 25 and another opener Jahirul Islam Omi 22 were the other notable scorers in the 2nd innings for the hosts.

Wahab Riaz of Pakistan Academy team adjudged man of the match for claiming eight wickets in the match. Earlier, replying to GP-BCB Academy’s 1st innings total of 192, Pakistan Academy team were all out for 241 in the 1st innings. The 2nd and last four-day match between the two teams will also be held at the same venue beginning May 2.

Earlier, in the triangular Grameenphone Academy Cup, Pakistan Academy team clinched the title beating GP-BCB Academy team by 39 runs in the final at the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium (SBNS).

Before the triangular one-day tournament, the host team won the two-match four-day series against South Africa Academy team 1-0.

The GP-BCB Academy team won the first four-day match against the Proteas side by an innings and 68 runs while the 2nd four-day match ended in a draw.
