Ceramics Industry in Bangladesh

Export of ceramics goods from Bangladesh, especially in the Middle Eastern countries, has been increasing steadily and it has given a boost to the country's hopes for foreign exchange earnings by exploring new markets for its diversified exportables.

Though Bangladesh's entry in ceramic export market is not that old but it had already earned a good name for its quality products with elegant getup and design.

There are four major companies -Monno Ceramics, Peoples Ceramics, Bengal Fine Ceramics, Standard Ceramics and Shinepukur Ceramics-who are manufacturing quality products to meet the international standard and have been exporting their goods for a long time.

Though the export earnings from ceramics sector is no match in comparison to the Ready Made Garments or leather sectors, but the sector is contributing to the country's overall development by exploring new market even in Eastern Europe and expanding its export base for foreign. A silent revolution is taking shape in the country's ceramic sector in its thrive to attain quality in production for its products by these ceramics companies.

Most significantly, all the existing companies are running their ventures depending on local workforce and market capital, but still they are dependent on others for some raw materials. Yet despite some limitations, the sector has every potentials to grow and become a big foreign exchange earner for the country with its dazzling products in the era of globalisation which has exposed our products to unequal competition in world market. Hopefully ceramics industry would sustain this challenge of stiff competition and proceed forward with quality products in a very reasonable price range and bring good name for the country.

Shinepukur Ceramics Limited
Shinepukur Ceramics Limited is based on 25 acres land located at the Beximco Industrial Park, a 300 acre complex at Gazipur, about 35 Kilometers north of Dhaka city. The site has been defined as an Industrial Zone by the Government and adjacent to the Dhaka Export Processing Zone.

Ideally located, Shinepukur Ceramics started off in January 1999 by manufacturing high quality porcelain tableware and intend to add Bone china tableware from May 1999 in collaboration with NIKKO, the premier Japanese Company. It will promote elegance and distinction for both international and local users in this area.

Shinepukur Ceramics is positioned to export the entire production to the global market and is backed by the long-standing experience and competence of the management and staff based on imported machinery & transfer of technology. All the products are prepared under a strict quality control in line with the international standard.

The company is a member of Beximco Group the largest industrial conglomerate in Bangladesh headed by Mr. A.S.F. Rahman and Mr. Salman F. Rahman respectively being Chairman & Deputy Chairman of the Group.

Shinepukur Ultra Porcelain
The gleaming whiteness and delicate translucency have positioned Shinepukur Ultra Porcelain (SUP) at the ultimate in porcelain tableware production. Without reducing the mechanical strength, SUP is refined to give the user a soft Bone China-like feeling. Ultra porcelain is the result of innovation in recipe and utilisation of supreme human skill.

Recipe is based on the usage of premium quality kaolin and other additives. All other chemical properties of SUP are similar to the properties of hard porcelain fired at around 1350°C. SUP will herald a new era in the production technology of a unique range of porcelain tableware for its exclusive physical feature and exquisite artistry.

    Come Along The Path: With the printing house he established in 1960 Mr. Monno an inherent entrepreneur didn't stop nor was satisfied with an average living. An inborn knack of achieving excellence for the product he is to produce. Monno Ceramic took action faster than anticipated, export first consignment to the UK in September 1985 and efforts were given to explore more. Now Monno's product is being entertained all around the globe. The major market is being the USA, Europe, New Zealand and Australia.     Monno Decal, a sister concern of Monno Ceramic is equipped with modern screen-printing facilities. Our in-house state-of-art decal plant offers a wide range of attractive decorations both in-glaze and on-glaze. We also offer in-house design of decal decorations to customer's individual requirements. All the decal decorations can be supplied to meet International Standards.
