The second phase of Bishwa Ijtema' (world Muslims' congregation) began with the religious sermons after Fajr prayers on Friday (Jan 19).
Lakhs of Muslim pilgrims and a large number of people from the capital and adjacent areas attended the Friday's Jumma prayers at Tongi Biswa Ijtema ground, on the outskirts of the capital. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal also attended the Jumma prayers.
The congregation, organised by Tablig Jamaat, will end on Sunday (Jan 19) through the concluding prayers (Akheri Munajat).
President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have given separate messages on the eve of the Ijtema. They have greeted all the devotees and wished success of the holy event, local media reports said.
