Maximum 15 SIMs allowed for one user

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) sets the highest number of mobile SIM cards for a single user, in a latest move. From now on, a subscriber won't be allowed to use more than 15 SIMs. Extra SIMs crossing the limit will be deactivated after Dec 31.

BTRC forwarded the directions to the chief executives of the mobile phone operators, several media reports said on Tuesday (Dec 5).

Mobile subscribers can check how many SIMs are registered to them by dialling *16001# and entering the last four digits of their national ID number when asked through the USSD code. Once they press send, they will receive an SMS response containing the relevant information.

Subscribers can also send the last four digits of their NID number by SMS to 16001. A reply SMS will therefore be sent to the user stating the number of mobile SIMs registered to the NID.
