Colder winter on way

After a cyclone, and floods and landslides triggered by huge rains, meteorologists have warned Bangladesh may experience a chillier winter this year than the last. Foggy weather by the end of autumn has earlier brought the message that winter is coming.

On Monday, the lowest temperature in the country was recorded in Srimangal at 11 degrees Celsius while Teknaf accomplished the maximum temperature of 30.5 degrees Celsius. This year, Bangladesh’s weather was rough. The country suffered cyclone, floods, heavy rains, landslides, and lightning strikes. Winter is between December and February. Dense fog blankets the northern districts while river basins m maturity dense to moderate fog, and mild fog covers the rest of the country in this season. The Met office says the cold may start to rise by the end of December.

One or two mild cold waves of 8-10 degrees Celsius or moderate cold waves of 6-8 degrees Celsius may sweep over the north, northeast and central region of the country at the time. Meteorologists said the ighest intense bout of cold to hit the country in recent years was in 2013. The Met office recorded four-decade low temperature that year.
