Ex-MP Abdul Baten passes away

Freedom Fighter and former Member of Parliament Khandaker Abdul Baten passed away at a Dhaka city hospital on Monday (Jan 21). He was 75. Abdul Baten, who was the MP of Tangail-6 constituency (Nagorpur-Delduar) in 2008 and 2014, had been suffering from old-age complications.

Baten, one of the Liberation War organizers, left behind his wife, two sons, a daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn over his death.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed profound sorrow and shock at the death of former Bangladesh Awami League MP Khandaker Abdul Baten.

In a condolence message, the PM prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed  sympathy to the bereaved family members, local media reports said.
