Mashrafe collects Awami League nomination form

Bangladesh ODI captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza Sunday (Nov 11) collected a nomination paper from Bangladesh Awami League to contest the upcoming 11th parliamentary election from Narail. Mashrafe went to the Awami League’s election conducting office in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi in the noon, local media reports said.

Mashrafe took blessings from Prime Minister and President of Bangladesh Awami League Sheikh Hasina before collecting the nomination form. Mashrafe went to the Gono Bhaban in the morning, according to reports.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, Awami League General Secretary, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader told reporters that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has advised all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan not to contest the upcoming parliamentary election and to give full attention to cricket.

She asked Shakib to pay more attention to the matches as the cricket world cup will be held next year, Obaidul Quader quoted Sheikh Hasina as saying.

On Friday (Nov 9), the ruling Bangladesh Awami League started selling the party’s nomination papers for the 11th general election.

The party's General Secretary Obaidul Quader inaugurated the sale of nomination forms at Awami League president’s Dhanmondi political office with the purchase of a nomination paper on behalf of the party President Sheikh Hasina.

On Saturday, it was published in different media that Bangladesh national team cricketers Mashrafe Mortaza and Shakib Al Hasan will collected nomination papers today (Sunday) to contest the upcoming general election with Awami League ticket from Narail and Magura.
