Bangladesh Cricket Board has confirmed that Soumya Sarkar and Imrul Kayes have been included in squad for the ongoing Asia Cup. The batsmen will fly for UAE on Saturday (Sep 22), local media reports said.
Team Bangladesh were struggling for an opening partner for Tamim Iqbal even before the start of the Asia Cup. The star batsman fell prey to injury during the opening fixture against Sri Lanka and had to return to Dhaka.
The Tigers tried youngster Nazmul Hossain in the match against Afghanistan on Thursday (Sep 20), and India today in the opening slot alongside Liton Das, however, he failed to produce anything significant for the team.
Soumya and Imrul both have experience as openers. Soumya had batted alongside Tamim in ODIs before loss of form saw him lose his place in the Tigers' ODI side.
