Macquarie University of Australia will provide full scholarship to Bangladeshi students for PhD courses. The university will also provide short courses and training facilities for faculty members of Bangladeshi universities and UGC officials. The initiative is a part of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between UGC and Macquarie University in 2016.
A four-member delegation from Macquarie University led by Ms. Kathy Humphrey, Director, International Administration, called on UGC Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan on Tuesday (Aug 7) and offered the opportunities for Bangladeshi teachers and students.
Dr Julian Droogan, Senior Lecturer, Tanveer Shaheed, Regional Director, South Asia and Middle East and Riasat Hossain, Country Manager (South Asia) of Macquarie University assisted Ms. Kathy Humphrey. The UGC Chairman said that UGC wants to build close ties with Australian Universities for internationalization of Bangladesh's higher education.
"The PhD scholarship and training facilities will enhance our research and development activities," he added.
Mentionable that in 2016, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) signed a MoU with Macquarie University of Australia to promote academic, research, and governance cooperation.
