Shaheed Ramiz Uddin College gets 5 buses for students

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has handed over five buses to the Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College authorities. Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) Chairman Farid Ahmed Bhuiyan handed over the keys to the vehicles on behalf of the PM on Saturday (Aug 4), local media reports said.

Keys to a double-decker bus and four others buses have been given to Major General Ataul Karim Sarwar Hasan, Dhaka Log Area commander and chief patron of the school.

On Jul 29, students of the institution Diya Khanam Mim and Abdul Karim Rajib were killed as a bus ploughed into a group of students as they were waiting for transport at a stoppage on the Airport Road.

Students in Dhaka as well as in other part of the country took to the streets since then with transport owners and workers beginning an unplanned strike from Thursday (Aug 2).

The government has said that it accepts the protesters’ demands and urged them to return home.
