A four-day long international conference titled '5th International Congress of Bengali Studies' began on Thursday (Jan 25) on the Jahangirnagar University campus. International Society of Bangla Studies (ISBS) in association with JU Bangla department organised the conference. JU Vice-Chancellor Professor Farzana Islam inaugurated the conference at Jahir Raihan auditorium in the evening.
Presided over by President of ISBS, Bangladesh Chapter and Professor Emeritus at Dhaka University Anisuzzaman, JU Pro VC (academic) Professor Md Abu Hossain and Treasurer Professor Sheikh Md Monzurul Huq addressed the inaugural session as special guests.
Researchers from around 20 countries are taking part in the conference.
