Fog disrupts communications

Fog disrupts communications

Dense fog disrupted public communications through air, water and roadways in Bangladesh on Monday (Jan 22), causing miseries to the passengers. The flight operations from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport hampered, prompting the authorities to divert a number of flights and delay in departure.

The ferry services through two major routes on the Padma River, Paturia-Daulatdia and Shimulia-Kathalbari, disrupted for hours due to dense fog. The ferry disruption caused tailback of vehicles on the approaching roads to the ferries, local media reports said.

Bangladesh Met office on Monday said that moderate to thick fog may occur at places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Barisal, Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions and light to moderate fog elsewhere over the country during midnight to Tuesday.

All outbound domestic flights scheduled to fly in the morning from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka were delayed for two to three hours due to the dense fog.

However, authorities took special measures to tackle the situation.
